The Garment Association Nepal (GAN) organized an “Inauguration and Interaction Program on the RMG Sector and Nepal–Romania Business Forum” in Kathmandu on May 25, 2026, bringing together representatives from the government, private sector, and business communities of Nepal and Romania to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral economic and commercial relations.
The program focused on expanding cooperation between Nepal and Romania in trade, investment, tourism, labour cooperation, and private-sector engagement, with particular emphasis on promoting Nepal’s readymade garment sector and exploring new avenues for bilateral business partnerships.
Welcoming the participants, Mr. Pashupati Dev Pandey, President of GAN, highlighted the significance of the Protocol of Cooperation signed between GAN and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania on August 27, 2023. He stated that the agreement has created new possibilities for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure development, skills development and training, information technology, e-commerce, and B2B and B2C business relations between the two countries.
Mr. Pandey informed that Nepal exported goods worth approximately USD 1.17 million to Romania and imported approximately USD 690,000 worth of goods from Romania during Fiscal Year 2024/25. He noted that readymade garments are among Nepal’s leading export products to Romania, highlighting the potential for further expansion of garment exports to the Romanian and wider European markets.
