An interaction program on “Developing a Strategic Framework for the Apparel Value Chain” was jointly organized by the Garment Association Nepal (GAN) and the South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE) in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Welcoming the participants, Mr. Pashupati Dev Pandey, President of GAN, emphasized that the strategic framework for Nepal’s apparel industry should encompass the complete value chain from agriculture to exports, following the “Farm–Fiber–Fabric–Fashion–Export” approach.
Mr. Pandey stated that the strategy should focus not only on strengthening production and exports but also on creating employment, expanding market access, and promoting e-commerce. He emphasized the importance of developing an integrated and sustainable value chain to enhance the competitiveness of Nepal’s apparel industry in domestic and international markets.
The program was moderated by Mr. Posharaj Pandey, Chairman of SAWTEE, while Dr. Paras Kharel, Executive Director of SAWTEE, presented a working paper on developing a strategic framework for the apparel value chain.
