GAN ORGANIZES INTERACTION ON CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR APPAREL EXPORTS AFTER LDC GRADUATION

The Garment Association Nepal (GAN) organized an interaction program on “Challenges, Opportunities, and Actions Required for the Promotion of Readymade Garment Exports after LDC Graduation” on Tuesday. The program also included a special ceremony to honor the President and Executive Committee members of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI) and distinguished business personalities.

Welcoming the participants, Mr. Pashupati Dev Pandey, President of GAN, emphasized that the readymade garment sector is likely to be among the sectors most significantly affected by Nepal’s graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category. He stressed the need for sustainable development, enhanced competitiveness, and stronger cooperation between the government and private sector to address the challenges associated with graduation.

Mr. Pandey highlighted the importance of establishing a Green Garment Village and forming a Textile and Clothing Development Council as strategic initiatives for the long-term development of Nepal’s garment industry. He also called for a clear and practical action plan for the revival and rehabilitation of distressed industries.
